Rolwaling Valley Trek
Description
The Rolwaling Valley Trek is the trek to Rolwaling Valley which liess Northeast of Kathmandu valley, close to the Tibetan border and in between Tama Koshi River and Khambu Himal and is one of the most remote, wild and magical areas in Nepal. The Sherpas named this valley Rolwaling - “The Grave or Furrow” – due to its location along the Rolwaling Khola deep beneath the countless ice-giants that tower above this unusual east-west valley. Rolwaling is considered as one of the hidden valleys in the Himalaya serving to protect the dharma.
This trek offers a unique opportunity to pass through traditional Shepa, Tamang Chhetri and Brahmin villages. The local lifestyle of Sherpa, Tamang and Chettri makes the Trek worth. People in the villages are very warm-heart and very kind as well. Along the trek, we will cross high passes, dense forests and beautiful waterfalls. Highlights of this trip include fantastic views of Mt. Gauri Shanker (7146m) and Tso Rolpa Glacier Lake. This trek is recommended and suitable for adventure seekers that are interested in exploring off of the beaten track. This region is rich in biological diversity, glacial lakes, mountains, and isolated villages. The region is rich in flora (with 16 major vegetation types) and fauna (with 34 species of mammal, 16 of fish, 10 of amphibian, 8 of lizard, 14 of snake and 235 of birds).
It is also an alternative trail to Everest base camp trekking located in the west of Khumbu.
